Creating a Business from Scratch Really is Easy!

This is it. Sometimes you just have to start something, no matter how scary it feels or how unprepared you think you are. I want to help people, and I feel like this is the way for me to do that. I am creating a business, and there will be trial and error, ups and downs. I want to bring you guys along on this journey with me as well, so here goes nothing! Here is an overview of the steps I have taken so far (For reference: I started the blog just over a year ago, and have just now decided I want to be serious about it- you can read my first post here!). I can get real specific if you have questions, so just leave them below!Step 1: Create a website/blog. This can be as simple or as complex as you want. I suggest starting simple, then exploring more as you get more comfortable with the new platforms and resources you will be using. WordPress is about as easy as it gets, and is the one I chose. It can also be customized to just about anything you can think of. There are many others that might work better for you, so do your research. It's actually pretty fun to design the layout and the pages, IMO. Its both technical and creative, which is right up my alley.Step 2: Create social media accounts on all platforms you want to use daily, and link them to said website. So far, I've done an Instagram, Facebook page, Pinterest account, and Twitter. I'm 99% positive that is all the social media I am going to have, too. This business has a lot to do with who I am, my experiences, and my life, so I just turned my personal social media into my business ones. I'm still playing around with the idea of creating business specific accounts, so that may be on my to-do list. You'll also want to think -at some point- about automating all your accounts to post when you update your website, just because who really has time to push every post you write on every social media platform multiple times a week...?Step 3: Create. Create until your eyes bleed, and your fingers go numb. You might not share all of it just yet, but make it anyways. Write it anyways. Film it anyways. I'm going to create some kind of a calendar so I can keep track of what I want to post, and when, so I can stay organized. For a while you will be talking to the void. Don't get discouraged. If you want to make it work, you can never give up.Step 4: Extras. I've also created an email list, some free downloadable content, and been working on creating  images to add into some of my posts. The email list will be more of a tool later on, when I do bigger things, but for now it's a great way to keep in touch with readers. The downloadable content was just fun to create, and I thought some people might enjoy using the images as screen savers or phone lock screens lol. I want to add more pictures to all my posts because I love seeing beautiful images when I'm scrolling through the Interwebz, so I want to integrate that into my business somehow.Creating a Business from ScratchMy biggest resource thus far has been Google. Anything I can think of to change or add to my site, I just Google it. I also use YouTube (my one true love) for tutorials that I need a little bit of visual guidance for. I've also been listening to podcasts for ideas (Creative Empire). I think this is what really kicked me into gear lately.Coming up: I want to work on some email templates, more free downloadable content, videos, photography, adding content to my BRAND NEW Facebook page (Please go like it!!!), creating more content in general, automation with my social media platforms. Whew. We got this! Please let me know if you want me to write more about anything specific and I will! Also, if you have any requests, I would love to write about those, too!I also just got my first non-official Life Coach job! (Thanks, Aub<3!)The last thing I have to say is, when life isn't going how you thought, or how you wanted, change it. I am creating the life I want. You can too, and I'd love to help you do it. :)Love,Jess
