One Year Later…
I started this draft on 6/18/2021 which was a year and a day from the last post I posted on this blog. I never posted the draft for some reason. Here I am, almost another year past that. Today is 3/26/2022. I read through the draft and I think it's interesting to see where I was nearly a year ago, so I want to include it in this post.
So- this part is from 6/18/2021:
It’s hard to believe I’ve ignored this blog for an entire year. I was so passionate about it to begin with. Full of ideas and dreams and wishes to change it, constantly going from one business idea to the next. I still love writing. But lately I’ve been doing a lot more reading. Today marked the 42nd book I’ve read so far this year. My goal was only 50 and I think I’ll surpass it at this point lol.
It’s sort of insane how much more time I have for actually living my life now that I’m not a teacher anymore. Not to be dramatic, but I forgot what enjoying life was like. I constantly felt like I was working. Grading or planning or emailing or stressing about the next day and what fresh hell would await me. What horrible things would be said to and about me by kids and parents. My mental health has done a complete 180 since going back to the pharmacy. I love what I do. I have friends at work. I feel like I’m making a difference. Everyone is nice to me. I get to clock in, do my job, then clock out and I’m done for the day. Nothing to do for work when I get home. It was bizarre at first, and I had pretty bad anxiety from feeling like I wasn’t doing enough. Wasn’t working enough. It took a good 3-4 months to get past that.
I’m now the Pharmacy Technician Coordinator in a leadership role since last October. This is the longest period of time I’ve ever chosen to stay at one job. It’s been 1.5 years at this point. I know that’s shocking to most people, being such a short period of time and I understand how it looks, but I’m choosing to look at it as an accomplishment. This is the first job I’ve ever had that I don’t feel like I get stagnant in super quickly.
Other updates… ahhh. Oh, I’ve been continuously working on house projects for the last year. The backyard is almost finished and I might do a post about the changes/updates I’ve made. We bought a jeep. I don’t remember if that’s been less than a year or not lol. Derek is still working at his job. He just had ACL/meniscus repair surgery and is recovering nicely from that.
And now, from 3/26/2022:
I ended up reading 79 books last year. Well surpassed my goal. It was amazing. This year I've already read 12, so it's safe to say that reading is still a focus of mine. In October-ish of 2021, I was promoted again to Pharmacy Technician Supervisor, and have now been at the hospital for just over 2 years. I don't have quite as much freedom as I did before (dealing with frequent callouts and coverage from home on my off time and then ending up having to cover shifts myself quite often), but it's still a million times better than when I was teaching. I'm still happy with my decision to leave teaching, too. I did end up finishing the back yard. It definitely needs to be cleaned up again but I'd love to do a post about it. It could probably also use even a few more tweaks but that is just a testament to my personality. I'm not sure I ever truly *finish* things lol. I also started on our kitchen update, so I will share about that when I get it finished too (hoping that is sooner rather than later). Derek has now been at his job for about 4 years, and while he doesn't love it some days, it is the main reason we are able to live the way we do so we take time to remember that we are very fortunate for him to have gotten it. We celebrated our 5 year wedding anniversary last October, which seems kinda crazy. We will have been together for 10 years this coming September, too. The dogs are getting older. Both will be 10 this year, and I'm just not really ready to think about what that means. And we have had a MAJOR life change since I last posted here, which I will be blogging much more about here soon. I'm wanting to get back into blogging. Oh- I also got off social media so the desire to share has been increasing and I figured I might as well do it here. Anywho. Expect to see more from me here. Expect lots of updates and changes to my site. I want to change it up yet again. :)
Happy Saturday, Friends!
