Kitchen Update: "Not so Cheap"
Right before I found out I was pregnant, I started our kitchen update. I had this vision of blue cabinets, gold finishes, and white counters. I'm super happy with how its turned out so far so here's what we've accomplished up to this point!
Here's the Process:
This is what we started with.
Originally I loved the white cabinets. Still think they look great in most kitchens. For ours, I wanted something different.
First-
Had to take off all the hardware and the doors/drawer fronts to get ready to paint.
Then came stripping...
The paint that is. I had just found out I was pregnant 3 days after I started to strip the old paint off these lower cabinets, so this got put on pause for a while. We told my parents right after I found out (at about 4 weeks) so that my mom could come help (take over my mess) lol. Thanks, Mom!! You're the only reason this project got as far as it did lol.
Priming-
My mom worked SUPER hard stripping all the cabinets and doors and drawer fronts and by then we realized we needed a professional to come in and paint. Mom found a lady who was well recommended by a friend, and we went with her not knowing who else to choose. She did fine, but the finishes are not quite up to par with what I was expecting. This is after she primed. Hiring a painter is not cheap...
Almost there...
Finished painting! Like I said- from afar, the paint looks fine. I LOVE the color I picked out. I really think it makes things pop, and ads interest to the whole downstairs. Can't you just see it with white counters, white backsplash and a white apron sink?!!?
Hardware!
Here's everything put back together with the new hardware I ordered off Wayfair. We got a new microwave between the last pic and this one because ours completely shorted out somehow. Installing that was.... an experience lol but we made it through! And we've since upgraded the fridge as well- I'll show that next.
New Fridge <3
This fridge has so much more space than our old one. So much more, in fact, that it mostly looks like we never have anything in it! Lol
So, that's the kitchen update up to this point. Started in November of 2021, writing this in June of 2022. I've got the gold pendant lights and gold faucet ready to be installed, but want to wait for counters, backsplash, and sink before doing the faucet. Then she'll be totally finished. I can't wait to see what it'll look like by the end of this journey!
Thanks for reading!
