Our Trip to the Georgia Aquarium

Hi everyone! Last weekend Derek and I decided to go to the Georgia Aquarium (click here for tickets)! It was SO FUN! We both really love the ocean and being around water, plus this gave us something different to do for a change. The first exhibit we visited was the harbor seal demonstration. They did all sorts of tricks. It literally blew my mind how well trained they were. It was also really cool to see the bond each trainer had with their seal, and how every trainer had different hand signals for each seal to preform the same tricks. I'm a geek about that kind of stuff. After the seals, we went to the river exhibit. Those fish were not as colorful, but we still loved watching them swim around. There, we found some river otters and they were adorable. They had just woken up from a nap and were starting to play. Next was the ocean exhibit! Our favorite, by far. The fish are all sooooo colorful and so different. Derek's favorite things in this exhibit were the sea otters. They are much bigger than you expect them to be, and they act just like puppies. We stood and watched them zoom around the tank for a long time. I wanted to dive in and swim with them!Hi Fishie! We kept walking and came across the huge open ocean tank. The Georgia Aquarium is one of the only aquariums in the world to have whale sharks, and they actually have 4 of them. The main viewing area for the tank is 63 feet long, 26 feet high and about 2 feet thick. We sat down and watched the tank for probably over 30 minutes. The whale sharks would glide by every so often. So would the manta rays, sea turtles and schools of fish. It is so serene and calming, but it reminds you how small you are to sit next to a fish 5+ times your size. I also really enjoyed watching the little kids faces light up around us as they ran from one tank to another, pressing their noses up to the glass to watch the fish. There were screams of "NEMO!!!!" and "Mom, look! It's Finding Dory!!!!!" It was cute. We made our way to the exit after purchasing a whale shark magnet for our fridge.Whale Shark at the Georgia Aquarium! If you haven't been to the Georgia Aquarium, I would highly recommend checking it out. We are going to go back in August when they host a kid-free event called Sips Under the Sea. They'll supply food and drinks to enjoy while walking around the aquarium at night, with no children running around. I think it'll be really fun!Us at the Aquarium!!What is your favorite fish in the aquarium? Thanks for reading!
