My Alternative Teacher Certification Program

Getting out of the program failed.Well, that's not entirely true...I did get out of the program, but only for about 3 days. My principal came to me after I had quit the program and said that he had spoken to the people at the county office. They told him he could fire me on the spot, or get me back in a program. He told me he would never ever fire me because he wants me to be there forever, and that he saw 3 options for me.

  1. Rejoin my program
  2. Find a new program
  3. Do nothing, and just not have my contract renewed for next year. (Which would make him very sad, but it was my choice.)

I considered option 3 for a second, but after learning I COULD be fired at any time if I wasn't in a program, I decided that was too risky/stressful. I did not consider option 2, because duh, I'm broke and cant afford to enroll in a masters program, nor do I want to right now. So. Option 1 it was. And as it turns out, he had already re-enrolled me in the program before coming to talk to me about it anyways. I'm going to just finish it out and get my teaching certificate. For the past 2 days I worked my tail off revising my giant lesson plan assignment so that I can film my lessons this week and stay on schedule with the program, and I learned today that my assignment was accepted and graded as proficient (which means passing), so I am really happy about that. I just have to keep telling myself only about 7 more months. This program is NOT easy. I feel it is even more difficult because I am helping open a brand new school this year, as well as all the other things required of us at the school. There is a lot of pressure from the county too since this is the first STEM school. We are the model for a new series of math classes, a completely digital school day, and many other things. So being a part of all that means that we also have guests (very important special guests) all the time touring the school and observing our classes. All that makes learning how to be a teacher while completing a program VERY HARD hahah.Oh well, just gotta stick it out. Like I said, only 7 more months! This is me finishing my Learning Unit Assessment assignment on the deck in the nice weather. I just got a little chilly... ( I have a bun in my hair lol.) Love,Jessica
